A serendipitous sighting of an early morning grass verge on a recent French trip…providing the perfect inspiration for the Changes Exhibition at Sula Gallery.

A mix of semi precious stones in greens, oranges and browns, carefully selected to represent the late summer grass verge. Finished with a signature handmade clasp in recycled 9ct gold.

Exhibition organised by the team at the Sula Gallery in conjunction with Guernsey Art Network.

Mondrian to the Abstract

SULA Gallery – February 2024

We were delighted to be involved with SULA Gallery’s first exhibition of the year. The gallery was filled with artworks inspired by the work of Piet Mondrian. Marking 80 years since the Dutch artist’s death.

Athene’s love of Mondrian’s work made this a perfect match. We created a new and unique pair of our recycled guitar plectrum waterfalls inspired by the shapes of Mondrian’s paintings. The earrings were then pinned through Athene’s abstracted self portrait painting on canvas. Using bold reds combined with our favourite french greys and spring greens – our own version of Mondrian’s restrained yet all encompassing primary colour palette.

Guernsey Arts Open 2023 –  Paisley Fractal in Silver

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been accepted for the Guernsey Arts Open Exhibition at the George Crossan Gallery which starts in October.

We’ve painted a 6ft long canvas and drawn intricate paisley and lace inspired spiral motifs. Once again a labour of love. Creating a pattern that looks like it could occur in nature with the elements of crafted human elements like lace. Embracing the ever intertwined relationships between our perception of design and nature.

Combining our some of our favourite things – spirals , patterns , super tiny details and metallic colours.

Puffin Parade 2023

Lichen inspired puffin for the Puffin Parade

We were so pleased to be invited back to paint a puffin for the 2023 Puffin Parade, after painting a goat for the Golden Guernsey Goat Trail in 2021. Our goat was called Bejulicully – learn more about her here.

The puffin parade was in aid of Autism Guernsey and the GSPCA. A whole flock of puffins were painted by various businesses and organisations from around the island. All the puffins have been displayed in different locations around Guernsey.

Autism Guernsey invite app users to make a donation, the parade has finished but you can still donate here.

Our sponsor – Island Health, have been great to work with, neatly tying in with my own values around art and colour for mental health. The turquoise is one of their brand colours, perfect for a puffin.

The intricate hand drawn patterns are inspired by lichens –  my reference photos were taken from the puffins’ winter home, Iceland, on a trip in the summer of 2022.

Guernsey Arts Network Open Exhibition – St.James Concert Hall 2022

We are delighted to be a part of Guernery Art Network’s annual exhibition at StJames Concert Hall.  This exhibition will run from 31st October to 8th December in St.James Stairwell exhibition space.

We also displayed a piece in the 2020 Joy exhibtion also at St.James , you can learn more by clicking here.

This year’s we reprised an old favourite of ours. This peice is title “Butterflies around a hole” .  Inspired by the migration of the monarh butterfly and our impact on the planet changing the time of their migrations.

Each butterfly was cut from recycled packaging and paper, the patterns from which create the marking on the  butterflies wings.
