Our brand values are so important to us…we could talk at length about integrity, quality control, our attention to detail, our dedication to customer care, our eco credentials, our commitment to sustainability – and we do strive to be our absolute best in all these things. Always.
Nothing is more important than honesty and integrity, especially in this business.
But above all those, it’s colour, fun, movement, repetition, shiny stuff, beauty and simplicity that are our absolute passions, and always have been.
- Be kind to the planet.
- Don’t forget to have fun.
- Life is better when you’re wearing fabulous earrings.
Working predominantly in Gold and Silver, and incorporating a wide range of modern materials such as resin and perspex, Athene designs and hand makes all her pieces in her studio in Guernsey, along with her small team.
Using traditional techniques mixed with a modern, inventive approach to combining materials and influences, we create jewellery which draws inspiration from the natural world.
A questioning mind and a willingness to explore design from different perspectives means that interesting results are achieved. Athene uses recycled materials and found objects collected from around the globe, to inject fun, humour and an element of irreverence into her work. A love of colourful precious and semi-precious stones, combined with precious metals creates an eye catching display. The silver and gold pieces celebrate texture, combining organic forms with precious metals to provide beautifully simple pieces.
The hand engraved collections celebrate Athene’s fascination with the natural world, with repeating patterns, often geometric and always kooky. We are always amazed at the mathematical side of nature and love translating this into our work – if only we’d been better at maths at school.
Whether working with individual clients to design special pieces or designing new work to add to the current collection, Athene works with a spontaneity sparked by a fascination for natural forms and the sheer variety of the living world around us. She strives to produce a range which celebrates a drawing together of many different techniques and materials.
Hallmarking Infomation from the London Assay Office
All of our gold and sliver pieces above the weight limits (7.78g for silver and 1g for gold) have been hallmarked at the London Assay Office. We also hallmark most of our smaller pieces as the hallmark is akin to a makers signature, which we think is a nice touch.
