Description
Beautiful, classic and wearable, these recycled silver bangles will be your everyday favourites.
This is a handmade ‘caricature’ of an Ormer Shell. This is my version of the Ormer, pared down to it’s beautifully simplified basic characteristics.
Handmade by Athene in Sterling Silver and then cast from Athene’s own resulting mould, each one of the cast pieces is then worked into by hand to create detail and individuality.
No two of these are identical and the imperfections and idiosyncrasies of the hand finishing process are design elements in their own right to be celebrated.
Athene and her small team hand make each and every individual piece in their studio in St Peter Port.

About Guernsey Ormer Shells
- The Ormer is a protected species in Guernsey waters and collecting them is strictly controlled.
- There are only a few ‘Ormering tides’ a year, when these delicate creatures are allowed to be taken from the beaches.
- Diving for them is prohibited, they must only be collected by wading, and only when they reach a certain size and level of maturity.
- The ormer shells used in my jewllery are much smaller than those allowed to be collected, they are the natural wastage from the old Roquaine Ormer farm, which has now closed due to retirement.
- Ormers are no longer farmed in Guernsey.
Each product comes individually packaged in a branded gift box.

Processing Time
All of Athene’s pieces are handmade by her and her small team in their St Peter Port studio. Each piece is individually crafted with care and attention to be made perfectly for you.
Of course, many items are available from stock but bespoke work can take longer, but it is definitely worth the wait for the end result, a beautifully made, unique piece, just for you.
After your piece is made for you, it may need to then be sent to the London Assay Office to be hallmarked.
Once your piece has been hallmarked, it will be sent back to the studio for its finishing touches, we will polish it and package it with care before we send it to you.
Our average processing time is 1-2 weeks, however, at busy times of the year, please allow up to 28 days for your purchase to be processed and shipped to you.
If you require your purchase in a certain amount of time, please contact us before ordering and we will try our best to do this for you.
