Blue chalcedony, clear crystal, and electroplated hematite necklace strung on nylon-coated stainless steel wire. With handmade clasp in 9ct gold.

This necklace was shown as ‘Mackerel Sky’ in my recent exhibition, and is now for sale.  Part of my collection comparing the natural inspiration with the finished piece jewellery.  Here it was the beautiful feathering of high cloud – rows of cirrocumulus or altocumulus forming a mackerel sky, a sign of good weather.  Blue chalcedony with its wispy inclusions of cryptocrystalline silica.
